![]() There are over a dozen restaurants outside Anvil and I can assure you, you'd get better service at any of them. The food here might be good but that alone isn't enough to save a place. When the food arrives, make sure I have what I need and that my drink (whatever it may be) is full. Anvil Pub is one of the few bars in Dallas with vegan menu options and a grease-free, 'green' kitchen offering unsuspecting delights like vegan. ![]() Greet your guests within 2 minutes, offer a drink, menu and then when you see me with my menus closed, ask what I want and put it in. ![]() I'm not some sap who comes in alone in hopes of finding conversation through the bartender nor are my expectations exuberant by any means, just do the basics and do them well. I know how your job works, I can most likely do it better than you and all I ask if that you do one thing right and that's the fundamentals. I've been in the industry over 9 years from family restaurants to now fine dining. I half joked about the service to the guy eating next to me and he told me that he had waited 8 minutes before being greeting upon arriving. Within that time frame (10 minutes), I was able to google top 10 restaurants in Deep Ellum, map GPS coordinates to a new place and get all my stuff and leave before she came back. I went right to the bar and was greeted in a timely fashion, asked for a recommendation and never saw the bartender again. This past Sunday, I gave them one more shot. I honestly consider that, all things included/time wasted, to be the worst service I've had in my 6 years of living in Dallas. They (bar staff) were too busy talking with their regulars. Where was that hand before you dropped my food off? I then proceeded to watch every staff member walk past the order multiple times to the point where I had to get up and get myself. (950ml) Bloody Mary say just the oppositeyou’re presented with an entire meal’s worth of food, including a bacon cheeseburger slider, shrimp, an onion ring, and plenty of other nibbles. He has his pants sagging well below his butt and then upon dropping the food onto the bar, he wipes the snot off his nose with the back of his hand. Anvil Pub, Dallas The restaurant calls it F Brunch, but the garnishes on the Anvil Pub ’s 32 oz. At one point in my meal, I ordered a bowl of fruit. The service was so horrendous, we moved to the bar where it didn't get much better. She throws the menus on the table, throws them open and says "as you know these are all letters, letters make words and words make sentences and then you tell me what you want" all while smelling like the previous night's beer. It took our waitress 8-10 minutes to even come say hi. I went in for their famed brunch 2 months ago and sat down with a friend. Quick, healthy, cheap and delicious-it checks all the boxes.How is this place still open? If it weren't for the social media attention for their bloody mary/mimosa brunch drinks, this place wouldn't be what it is. The Smoked Salmon English Muffin (their healthier take on lox, complete with capers, onion, tomato and cream cheese on an organic English muffin) will only set you back about $8. Head over to Greenville Avenue’s Start, where the entire breakfast menu hovers around $5-8. 5 Special (the double-meat burger with fries and a cold drink) and get change back from your $10 bill. ![]() Arrive hungry and treat yourself to anything on the menu, even the belt-busting No. There’s something so wonderfully nostalgic about this classic drive-in and our wallets definitely agree. Our favorite of the moment? The 6” Italian Beef with gravy, provolone, pepper giardiniera and extra beef. And while it’s impossible to pick a favorite sandwich (seriously, they’re THAT good), they’re all available for less than ten bucks. We’re pretty happy to sing Jimmy’s praises whenever we can.
